One of our main goals for gamescom is to let you interact with us on stage. So how does 'defeating Amboss for great prizes' sound? Like a lot of fun? Get your ticket to Cologne and challenge him!

Last year at Games Convention 2008 we introduced the so called 'Quest-System' to reward our loyal fans for supporting us at our booth. You could collect experience points printed on Moo cards and if you made it into the top 20 with your collection of cards you received a guaranteed spot for the Aion Beta Events plus hardware prizes for the best of the best.
This year we will continue this tradition and take it one step further. First of it all we have made it less complicated and got rid of odd XP values like 1750. It will be easier to count your XP in the evening. The real change however is the way the games on stage work this time.

While last year it was Amboss who made the players do funny things on stage it is now your turn to take revenge. Community Manager Martin 'Amboss' Rabl is sending out a challenge to the whole community and offers prizes for everyone who defeats him. The games have been developed and chosen by the creative minds of GamerGirls. To ensure a fair competition Amboss will not get told what has to be done until the games start. The best preparation will be to improve your general knowledge, wits and fitness. You better start now - Amboss promised to give his best.

In addition to these games it is possible to collect experience points again and win your digital edition of Aion as well as great hardware prizes from our generous sponsors Razer (Lachesis™ gaming mice, Goliathus™ mouse mats, Attitude shirts) and Bigfoot Networks (Killer Xeno™ Pro Gaming network card). Here is how it all works:

  • Cards of the following types are being handed out randomly at each 'Defeat Amboss' show (see schedule below)
    • Potion (Trank) 1000XP
    • Food (Essen) 1000XP
    • Scroll (Spruchrolle) 2000 XP
    • Item (Gegenstand) 2000 XP
    • Epic (Episch)
    • The four support cards can be collected for XP. However duplicates of the same card don't count. You can collect a maximum of four cards per show as there is the type of the card and date/time printed on them. Examples:
      • Two item cards from the show on Thursday at 10:30 only count once (2000 XP).
      • One item and one food card from Thursday 10:30 are both valid (3000 XP).
      • One item and one food card from Thursday 10:30 plus one item card from Thursday 13:00 are all valid (5000 XP).

To say it simple, catch different types of cards at different shows. If you catch the same type at one show multiple times, try trading it with someone else.

And as we all know that you like teaming up with someone there will be a team (2 players) and solo category in the evening. Find a friend and collect cards together with him or her. The identical card rule still applies (see above) but you can count all your cards together and both of you win the same prizes in the evening depending on how well you did as a team. If you decide to go solo, the rewards will be the same but only for yourself. It sounds more complicated than it is and we will explain it to you again during the games.

Now the fifth card category: Epic (Episch)

There will be three epic cards at each show and whoever catches them can come on stage and defeat Amboss. Those cards are very rare compared to the others but they give you the chance to win a digital collector's edition of Aion including 30 days of game time on stage - if you defeat Amboss!

Amboss won't be an easy opponent -at least this is what he says. However the people in the crowd can help you and also win a share of the prizes. The GamerGirls Dai-Lee and Arig will reveal the task on stage and if you believe that you are not good at it then you can get someone from the crowd to replace you. Think twice though as you will give up your digital collector's edition items then. In case your replacement defeats Amboss both of you will get a digital standard edition of Aion (including 30 days of game time).

The fights are currently planned for the following times (schedule might change until time of the event):

(all times are CEST, local time Cologne)

    • Thursday: 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30 (Winners announcement at 18:00)
    • Friday & Saturday: 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30, 18:30 (Winners announcement after last show)
