So there is a game you like, whether it be an online game that extends its life with new expansions or a console game that keeps cranking out the sequels, what do you do when the next installment is a bust?

1. Keep faith that the developer makes the necessary changes to improve it but holding onto the original ideas that made it good.

OR

2. Pray that the developer makes major changes that totally reinvents the game.

OR

3. Hope for something else? Please share.

What got me thinking on this was a game I like to play called HighStreet 5. It’s been pretty fun so far but the previous New Year patch was a bit weak. They’ve got a new Guild Manor version coming out that promises that the players can buy a guild house and decorate it, plus add some functional rooms like KTV. I really hope it lives up to the expectations, so my personal answer is 1. Because I like the things that made the original game great, just give us interesting additions please!

In my experience, most people just bail when something like this happens. Maybe keep an eye on the game every now and then to see if it has changed. I experienced this when SOE decided to completely change Star Wars Galaxies at one point. The game went from 16 to 7 professions, and the Jedi profession was only a mouseclick away, while before you'd have to grind for months to unlock it. So a lot of people bailed on the game.

I guess it depends on the changes/expansion, but it it changes the way you play the game too drasticly I don't think you can expect people to stick around for much longer.
